Allergies....

Well allergies have found us, well Alex that is.

A few weeks ago his nanny gave him a biscuit that had peanuts in it and immediately after eating his eyes got swollen. Apart from that he was fine and had no other symptoms. Needless to say we were furious that she gave him this, however she was besides herself with guilt and well that story stopped there.

We immediately went to the doctor and he prescribed some blood work and some medicine to help with the eyes. The blood work came back negative and so we were back to square one. Fast forward to this week, I was running late and gave Alex some prepared pasta sauce, normally I make it myself. Sure enough his eyes got swollen, we gave him the medicine and called his doctor. Verdict, we needed to see an Allergy doctor ! So Eric called his doctor and made an appt for today. Turns out the pasta sauce (tomato/basil) had cashews in it....that's a whole other post in the making.

The appt went well, the only heartbreaking thing (at least for me) was to see the Dr inject 4 different types of foods to see the reaction, 4 injections in my little man. He screamed of course, but was brave and got a very cool blue car in return :)

We need to go back on Monday for the Dr to examine where he got the shots, we also need to go to a specialised center to get blood work done on him on Monday - needless to say I'll be working from home.

We'll know more specifically next week what he's allergic to, so for the moment we are armed with allergy medicine and reading ALL labels.

Not a very fun update, but a major one for the Ménard family.

Bless his heart! We've been lucky not to have any allergy issues, especially since I let Matthew have peanut butter around 9 months old!

Did she knowingly give him something with peanuts? If so, I bet this teaches her a lesson not to go against your wishes!

No, she did not know that it had peanuts in it, but not like her not to double check. Just happy that it was not more serious....

He's been brave though :)
